It is an awesome project of a two-bedroom/two-bath house that designed as a single-family dwelling in Central City. UB13 is designed by URBANbuild with the flexibility to function as either a residence with two rental units with a shared kitchen. This dwelling is built with a combination of the interior translucent glazing system and cedar exterior.
Design
This project uses a single-level “infill” prototype’s two-unit strategy that complemented by a shared outdoor common area. The aim of this scheme is to celebrate the space qualities in relation to the material detailing, natural light, vertical depth, and the generous connections to the surrounding outdoors.
There is also a substantial deck that extends to the rear garden from the kitchen, offering a covered space to dine, cook, and escape rain and heat. The custom details in this project focus on the control of privacy, shade, light, and water.
System
Layered material assemblies can be found in the two-part west-facing shutter unit. The sun and heat gain is mitigated by the cedar exterior portion while the interior translucent glazing system can provide a visual barrier for privacy in the residence front room.
It is also an awesome house that celebrates the rainwater collection directed from the upper roofs of the house toward the custom gutter then drained to the rear of the site and released to the garden. The site of this project is sloped toward the nearby street, allowing the earth to absorb water before reaching the street.
Details
It is a project with a proposal that responds to the ever-developing goals established by NHS, providing a housing strategy that may satisfy a lot of user groups’ needs. This dwelling also offers a great opportunity to generate short-term rental income periodically.
