This unique house is located in Calpe, Alicante, Spain, sits on an abrupt plot of land overlooking the sea. HOUSE ON THE CLIFF invites people to stay, a piece of artwork that respects its land’s natural contour with a swimming pool and a stairway as an evocative path. Designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, this house has a concrete structure covered by a flexible and smooth white lime stucco.
Structure
The three-dimensional structure of reinforced concrete slabs and screens can adapt to the topography of the plot due to the desire to contain the house in just one level and the plot steepness. This way can minimize the earthwork of the project. It is a kind of a monolithic, stone-anchored structure that can generate the horizontal platform from the accessing level.
Design
This beautiful house is designed with a swimming pool located on a lower level of its building, on the site’s already flat area. The concrete structure of the house building is covered by a flexible and smooth white lime stucco and insulated from the outside.
Materials
The rest of the materials, gravel on the roof, pavements, and walls maintain the same color to bring a balance that meets the beauty of nature. These materials and elements also respect the area’s traditional architecture and emphasizing it. At the same time, house unity is also underlined through these materials together with the house structure and design.
