Located in Martha’s Vineyard, MA, the United States, Meadow Beach House is designed by Andrew Franz Architect as a comfortable family retreat. Completed in 2016 with 5,000 SF in size, this house is crafted with lasting materials to respond to its beachside meadow setting. It also has multiple smaller volumes that settle into the house landscape.
Design
Besides the lasting materials, Meadow Beach House is also designed to celebrate and capture the ever-changing breezes, light, and views. This house is surrounded by stunning views of nature that allows its residents to enjoy it easily. These views can be seen through the glazed windows in almost all rooms and spaces of the house.
Details
With its surroundings, this house has multiple smaller volumes settle into the landscape and clad in the typical cedar shingles of the region. There are also some vernacular components distilled to their essence. The casual context of Martha’s Vineyard blends together with the Scandinavian sensibility both inside and outside the house.
Interior
The house interior and structure are dominated by woods, including the furniture and the window’s frame. Inside, this house offers a warm feeling that comes from the wooden floor and the sunlight through the glazed windows during the days. The Scandinavian sensibility can be seen from all things, including furniture, decoration, and lighting.
