In order to take advantage of panoramic views of the Elk Mountain Range, rowland+broughton configures this magnificently placed home into a comfortable home. This 2018 project is also about providing the pristine backdrop for the owner’s significant contemporary art collection. With 8,700 SF in size and a modern entry volume, this project won two awards in 2018.
Design
This mountain home design is made to take a lot of advantage from its stunning surrounding nature, especially the view from the beautiful Elk Mountain Range. The design also can create a comfortable place in providing the homeowner to have a pristine backdrop for the awesome contemporary art collection.
Structure
There is a strong central axis in this house that separated the private living areas and open public spaces and orients the flow of the key interior spaces toward the vistas. The modern entry volume also can expose the house north side for great art viewing to balance the natural daylight every day. The relationship of the cross-axial at the front door is aligned with a 10′-0″ wide glass pocket door, showcasing the mountain peaks and the custom copper.
Interior
The interior of Lookout is a combination of a modern style and also elegant touches. Some art collection is displayed on the white walls while the wooden floor can deliver a warm atmosphere into the whole spaces of the house. It is not only about an organized home but also about a home as a simple art gallery from the owner’s collection.
