Knock on Wood! 4 Wooden Architecture Ideas to Inspire Your Remodel

Wooden Architecture Ideas

Wood is one of the oldest building materials on Earth. Wooden homes have been found dating back 10,000 years. It inherently radiates a timeless charm, evoking the distant past and simpler times.

Wood has been enjoying a resurgence in recent years. It’s being embraced for its sustainability as well as its historical resonance.

Here are some ideas for how to integrate wooden architecture into your remodeling project.

Wooden Architecture Inspiration For Your Remodel

Wooden interiors are an easy way to integrate a natural, organic sense of calm to your space. Here are some ways you can incorporate wooden architecture into your remodeling project.

  1. Wooden Panels

There’s nothing quite like walls made of wood. If you’re living in a more modern building made out of brick or stone, however, you’re most likely out of luck.

Not necessarily, though. Wooden panels are an easy way to add an organic layer of real lumber, even if your walls are made of cinder block or concrete.

  1. Add A Kitchen Island

It’s lovely to have a touch of wood in the kitchen. It adds a lightness and brightness that will help you feel relaxed and enjoy your time around the table. It can also act as a chopping block without scratching your countertops, as an added benefit.

Re-doing all of your countertops might be excessive or out of your price range. A floating island in the center of your kitchen is just the ticket, however. It’s also yet one more space to gather together and spend quality time while chopping fresh vegetables or rolling out homemade cookies.

  1. Redo Your Floors

Did you ever have a relative growing up with all-white carpeting? Where you’d have to basically cover yourself in a clean suit just to sit and have a visit?

It’s not exactly relaxing, is it? It makes it difficult to unwind when you’re constantly watching every step.

Hardwood floors completely remove that tension, while still looking outstanding. Hardwood floors make it so you can actually enjoy where you live. They’re also easy to clean and are suitable for very nearly any activity except ice skating.

  1. Wooden Siding

Perhaps you want your home to have more of an organic look on the outside as well as the interior. Wooden siding is an easy way to integrate an old world charm into your existing property without having to pay for a major overhaul.

Wooden siding comes in pretty much every kind of wood you might imagine, as well. Lighter, blonde woods give an airier, more open feeling. Dark walnut or mahogany might make your space seem more regal and lavish.

That’s one of the beautiful things about renovating with wood. You can use it to add small touches and flourishes, revitalizing a space in the process. This makes it one of the more affordable approaches to redoing a property, as one final benefit.
