House in the Woods is a 2016 project of a large house with contemporary interior design. It comes with “woods” name because it has a lot of wood materials that used for almost all interior elements. Designed by Ieva Prunskaite, this house is located in Vilnius and becomes one of a house with best interior design in the city.
Interior
Just like its name, the contemporary interior in this house is designed with a lot of wood materials. This material is used to design many things, including the storage, floor, and wall. The architect also exposes some beams on the ceiling to strength the contemporary accent in this large house.
Structure
This house is not only large but also high with its ceiling. The sloping roof is designed with glass skylights, allowing the beautiful sunlight to come during days. Just like other interior elements, the staircase is also made from wood with the black iron banister. Some parts of the wall on the living area and bedroom comes with black bricks, creating a different look among the white walls.
Rooms
On the ground floor, the warm living area with fireplace, dining area, and kitchen are housed in one big space. Those rooms are separated with a wooden frame that extends to the kitchen and mezzanine. The mezzanine area is used as a bedroom and reading space with big wooden shelves.
Materials
The architect uses a lot of wood materials to design and beautify almost the whole interior design on this house. But in order to create an interesting look of a contemporary interior, the architect also uses bricks, patterned tiles, and also glass materials. The result comes with a natural look of a contemporary interior that made from different materials.
Furniture
Some of leather chairs are filled up the living area with black small tables. In the dining area, both wooden dining table and chair are chosen to match the wood elements of the interior. In the kitchen, there is a small bar with some black stools, providing a small place to enjoy drinks and foods for the owner.
