UvA Roeterseiland 1

Fokkema & Partners was invited to design a new interior design of the university building for the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. The project starts from March 2012 to September 2014. The newly refined interior brings a lot of warmth and light with some characteristic elements.

Previously, this university building was a post-war university building. It was transformed by AHMM, a London based firm. This firm made some outlines and arranged them such as yellow and green accents for some different apartments with three shade colors of grey and a clear blue.

The co-creation of this building interior design is made based on the exploration of the user’s needs and wishes. The design comes in warmth and bright with colored and white floor fields and some natural woods.

Some characteristic elements are used by Fokkema & Partners to design the interior, especially for the common rooms, meeting areas, and the counters. The elements can create a diverse study and work environment.
