William Duff Architects was responsible for developing Golden Oak Residence in Portola Valley, California. It is functional and light-filled home that takes advantage of its bucolic site. The main gathering spaces introduce the butterfly roof, ventilation, and natural light, bringing the inhabitants closer to the outside views.
A shift in geometry creates distance between the public and private zone. The shift was made to offer a calming and rejuvenating private space for the inhabitants. With the structured juxtaposition of the used materials, the Golden Oak Residence offers order and warmth to the overall experience. It also complements the beauty and textures of the existing site.
Outside, there is an open dining area and a swimming pool down below. Both the dining area and swimming pool overlook the beautiful views of Portola Valley. Meanwhile, the interior exudes a warm atmosphere. Every space is invaded by natural light.
