Redtail Technology is known for its vibrant culture and dog-friendly work environment. Based in Sacramento, California, the corporate wanted to exude an interior design that balances the playful nature and edgy sophistication of the brand.
Therefore, they appointed RMW Architecture & Interiors for the task. The design team incorporated an open door dog policy, rocket wars, and zombie hunts into the design, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere in this 28,000-square-foot office. The design was also inspired by a sentimental logo.
Thoughtful circulation appears from the seamless merger of two warehouse buildings. The use of red implies the CEO’s dog, logo muse, and the name of the firm per se; Redtail.
There are also irregular soffit forms to establish the motion of an evolving technology environment. The shapes can be seen even from the open office, bridging the conference rooms and expanding the palette to dramatic lighting, sportive colors, and vibrant graphics.
The frame of each department was highlighted by strategically positioned large bar height tables. The tables encourage more interaction and collaboration both deliberately and by chance. The design also punctuated the idea of work and play hence the game lounge is provided to be used during breaks.
The game lounge is marked by a Nigel Sussman mural. To offer more leisure activities inside the building, there is a mezzanine that features a sliding anchor.
