An international firm named HLW worked with Fokkema & Partners to design Booking.com office at the Piet Heinkade, Amsterdam. Through the project, they wanted to set a vibrant work environment and restaurant. Finalized in October 2016, the design displays different blends of atmospheres as inspired by the diverse experiences of a traveler as well as the history of Amsterdam.
Fokkema & Partners was in charge of the design elaboration and management based on booking.com’s corporate identity. This 14.500-meter-square office space comes with unique and colorful neighborhoods that provide orientation. The design team incorporated meeting spaces as well as phone booths and places to focus.
In order to support the corporate’s agile working concept, various types of [stand-u] presentations, both in formal and informal setup, are facilitated. Cozy living rooms complement work areas for the teams and departments when they want to take some break from work.
From installation design to styling, all interventions are bold and well executed. Meanwhile, one of the themes that connect to the colorful atmosphere is the reference in the flooring to the logistics of the cruise docks. This densely occupied office set beside the Amsterdam cruise terminal and has yellow lines on the grey pathways, emphasizing its characteristics.
Booking.com office has a multi-use area with tennis tables and cozy seats. It is located in the office area and acts as the connection for building cores as well as the conference center and restaurant, optimizing all office spaces at the same time.
The restaurant on the first level and the coffee bar on the 7th floor feature mesmerizing views of the IJ River, offering a cozy and connected feeling as if the tenants were working while traveling to the city.
