SWA Group was responsible for providing landscape architectural services in Zobon City Villas in Shanghai, China. That being the case, the firm established three characteristic gardens on a three-acre site. With a particular characterization reflected in the design, the tenants in this residential condominium can easily distinguish each garden.
The Landscape Project
Through this project, SWA Group created space layout comprised of three gardens; the Huangpu Abstraction Garden, the Sky Garden, and the Cognitive Garden.
Each garden has its own unique environment that caters to the tenants’ needs.
The Huangpu Abstraction Garden
The Huangpu Abstraction Garden is reflected by a 2.5 m tall stacked glass fountain.
It can be considered as the public face of the landscape architectural project.
The Sky Garden
Functioned as the centerpiece of the project, the Sky Garden comes with an elliptical-shaped reflecting pool. Aside from the pool, the garden is also surrounded by water cascades.
The Cognitive Garden
Among the three gardens, the Cognitive Garden is the smallest. It offers more privacy and is the right place when tenants are in a meditative mood.
The calm atmosphere of the Cognitive Garden is reflected by the texture, color selection, the calming sound of a waterfall that wets the light sculpture and gravel basin.
