Sanya Edition is Ian-Schrager-helmed Haitang Bay resort off the coast of Southern China. Built by SWA Group, the resort is known as ‘dream of aqua’ where the water and sky converge. In creating the landscape design, SWA was inspired by a river delta and its convergence with the sea.
The Sanya Edition
The boundaries for 40 villas are defined by gently curved forms that echo throughout the terraced resort in swimming pools, fountains, aquatic life pools.
There is one dramatic fountain in the lobby that pours through openings into basin pools under.
It opens the view to preserved sand dunes and the sea.
The resort also comes with additional forms derived from creatures like octopus and abalone influenced plantings and pools.
Careful Site Planning and Programming
With thorough site planning and programming, it helped preserve the existing specimen trees, especially those located in the beach area and dune ecosystem.
Re-vegetation of impacted dune areas will be finalized with naturalized plantings than ornamental species.
It also will be completed with a management plant that ensures the overall quality of the resort experience without damaging surrounding nature.
Aside from housing the luxurious 500 key resorts, the 52-acre landscape is also the home for an array of locally farmed native plant materials and transplanted local specimens.
This act is conducted to promote and protect biodiversity in the resort.
