The Art Of Subtle Luxury In Neoclassical Interior 5

This 140-square-meter apartment, designed by Galina Shashkova, embodies quiet luxury with a touch of neoclassical elegance. Tailored for a man with a keen eye for sophistication, the entire space was thoughtfully designed to mirror the owner’s refined style, achieving a seamless blend of comfort and visual appeal. “The client had two specific requests: a wood-burning fireplace and natural materials for the finishes,” Shashkova noted, setting the foundation for the overall design. Every detail was carefully selected to echo the owner’s tastes while ensuring an exquisite harmony of style and comfort.

The apartment’s design, though simple, features a clever layout that seamlessly blends functionality with visual appeal. The six rooms — including the entrance hall, a generous living area with ample storage, a modern kitchen, a master bedroom, a bathroom, and a guest bathroom — are unified by a shared vision of understated luxury. At its core, the design showcases a soothing palette of warm, natural hues, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and enduring style.

As you step into the apartment, a handmade mirrored panel in the hallway immediately grabs your attention, offering a bold yet elegant introduction to the space. The living room, however, boasts the real centerpiece: a double-sided wood-burning fireplace. This striking feature is built into a bookshelf, seamlessly linking the living area with the master bathroom, and infusing both rooms with warmth and character. This innovative design choice highlights Shashkova’s talent for blending practicality with visually captivating elements.

Advanced technology is subtly integrated into the apartment’s design through a smart home system, offering the owner effortless control over lighting, temperature, and personalized relaxation settings. Meanwhile, high-end ventilation, air conditioning, and humidification systems work behind the scenes to guarantee optimal comfort at all times.

Honoring the client’s preference for authenticity, every material used in the apartment’s finishes is natural. Stone, wood, and marble form the core of the interior’s tactile elegance. The kitchen, crafted from solid Italian wood, showcases both exceptional craftsmanship and long-lasting durability, while the bathroom features wooden veneer walls paired with a stylish marble sink. Even the windows, framed in solid oak, add to the eco-conscious ethos woven throughout the entire design.

A standout feature of the apartment is the application of Alcantara on the walls, a soft, suede-like fabric that introduces both texture and warmth. This luxurious material enhances the space, creating a cozy yet refined ambiance, and demonstrates how even the finest details can significantly elevate the overall atmosphere of a room.

The attention to craftsmanship goes beyond the finishes, extending to the custom furniture. Built by Walls Studio in St. Petersburg, the integrated shelving, cabinets, wardrobes, and even the soft wall panels were all crafted from natural materials to seamlessly align with the design’s philosophy. The bed and bedside tables, designed exclusively for this project, reflect the same commitment to quality and cohesive design.

Textiles designed by Khanat Magomedova bring an added layer of natural elegance to the apartment. Carefully selected to harmonize with the organic materials throughout, the fabrics — from drapery to upholstery — introduce a soft yet striking accent to the overall design.

One of the boldest design choices is the freestanding bathtub, sculpted from natural white onyx. “The stone block was handpicked, and we closely monitored the manufacturing process to ensure everything was perfect,” said Shashkova. Weighing in at an impressive 800 kg, this stunning bathtub sits near a window, allowing the homeowner to enjoy sweeping city views while relaxing in ultimate luxury.

Galina Shashkova’s neoclassical apartment design masterfully fuses tradition with modernity, where opulent materials are paired with a functional layout. In a city known for its luxury, this project stands out with its understated elegance and precision in every detail. It exemplifies that true luxury isn’t about extravagance, but about achieving a harmonious balance between elegance and subtlety.
