Located in Moscow, Copper House is a 78-square-meter apartment designed by Rhyme to utilize the architectural potential of the space fully. Key features of the apartment include high ceilings and numerous panoramic windows that flood the space with natural light. Despite its compact size, the apartment is well-equipped with a large kitchen living room, a small hallway, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms. Rhyme’s design approach focused on meticulous attention to detail without making the space feel overly polished. Instead, there is an intentional sense of randomness and lightness.
In crafting the color palette, Rhyme created a vibrant and contrasting living room that gradually transitions to calmer tones in the bedrooms. This decision aligns with the client’s desire for color in the interior. The living room features a red mustard sofa and a turquoise carpet designed specifically for the space by Rhyme, with a complex shape, relief, and color. The room also includes a burgundy armchair, a chair with a pattern similar to a fir tree, a marble stand with burgundy veins, and a large round mirror by Christophe Gagnon in electric blue.
Instead of a dining table, which the client didn’t need, the apartment has a small island table perfect for quick meals or breakfast. The kitchen presented a challenge due to the use of quartzite, a difficult material to repolish or restore. Nevertheless, this choice made the kitchen a stunning focal point.
The bedroom features more subdued colors and includes unique items designed by Rhyme, such as a carpet, a console table, and a stone stand. To preserve the two windows in the room, Rhyme did not make a separate dressing room and placed wardrobes along one wall, incorporating a passage to the bathroom. The master bathroom includes a free-standing sink, cleverly hidden behind mirrored facades, and a long Agape mixer tap.
Despite the overall simplicity of the project, Rhyme paid special attention to details like handles, switches, and door carvings, all developed with careful consideration of proportions, materials, and placement. The design process felt effortless, like working in a single breath from start to finish.
