The location is the main value of this 160 sqm apartment. It is A Bright and Elegant Moscow Apartment with Golden Accents located in the heart of Moscow with views of the Kremlin, the Bolshoi Theatre, and the Alexandrovsky Garden. This is an awesome residential project by Elena Kalinina from ELKA Interiors.
The clients of this project are people with exquisite taste and vast experience. They wanted to enjoy the beautiful view from the windows without any obstructing things such as doors or partitions. It was also necessary to zone this apartment’s space according to its owners’ needs. The clients’ deep interest in Parisian style and interiors influenced Elena to design the interior of this apartment.
The main rooms in this apartment include a guest bathroom, a hall, a pantry, a laundry room, and a living room that combines a kitchen and dining area. There is also a private block consisting of an office, a master bedroom with a bathroom and dressing room, and a guest bedroom with its own bathroom. A source of inspiration that also defines the layout, style, and color scheme of this project comes from the stunning views from the apartment’s windows.
Plaster, wood, and marble are natural materials used to reflect the character of the interior in this project. All the colors are present in the interior and also visible from the outside. There are lots of interesting solutions in this project. The massive classic doors appear very light and elegant due to their construction and color. These doors are custom-designed by Elena Kalinina.
Some hidden storage systems exist in this apartment. The guest bedroom has a wardrobe that is integrated into the interior and executed in the same style as the plaster moldings on the walls. This room also has a hidden door to the bathroom. Without casings, this door is painted in the color of the wall and features wooden elements that continue the plaster’s pattern moldings on the wall.
The apartment’s entrance to the pantry is designed inconspicuously as the hidden door is made of the same veneer as the kitchen fronts. The Facet chandelier from the Lasvit factory in the center of the living room attracts everyone’s eyes with its elegance. The molding rosette for this chandelier was created from classic plaster elements to maintain a dialogue between the present and the past.
A hanging Freifrau chair in the master bedroom is attached to the ceiling, allowing one to gaze out the window to think about some enjoyable moments.
The owners of this apartment have a contemporary art collection. The designer found a place for this collection in the interior. All furniture items were selected according to the concept. If the designer couldn’t find a suitable item among the ready-made collections, she designed it myself and her partners specially manufactured it for this project.
In the living room, the coffee table by the EDRA sofa is an architectural piece that features warm-toned white marble accented with a broad stripe of green Verde Guatemala marble. In the owner’s office, the library is made of American walnut veneer and gray-blue eucalyptus with matte brass elements. There is also a bio fireplace in a classic marble portal in the living room, designed by the project’s author.
The kitchen in this apartment was custom-designed by Elena for the Arclinea factory. It is located in the same space as the living room so it was made transformable into a closed storage system. The kitchen set can be hidden behind rotating hidden doors, revealing the noble walnut veneer and luxurious white-gold marble on the kitchen island. There is also a secret door that conceals the entrance to the laundry room and pantry.
Elena managed to maintain conceptual integrity, which is the most important thing of all in this project. The story of this apartment and its owners can be seen from the flow of the rooms from one to another. The result of this project is a cozy apartment with an airy and impactful interior, uniquely individual without being cluttered with excessive decor.
