This project is very special for JUMA Architect because it is their own home. With adjacent office space, HH47 House offers a comfortable house on the plot away from the street. It is a 2019 project located in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium.
The lush surrounding greenery in the plot creates an entirely private area. The cozy, welcoming inner court is bordered by three connected volumes that consist of a double garage with wood siding, the architect’s office with separate access, and the private home of the owners. The volumes are in different heights and together they create a readable design.
The architect loves long-drawn-out and low forms so the floor plan is elongated. The children’s bedrooms can be found on the ground floor while the master bedroom with bathroom and dressing are on the first floor.
The non-ideal orientation of the house is a challenge for the architect, not a disadvantage. Between the living space and kitchen, there is a glazed portico that creates an in-between garden or patio of sorts. The best thing about this house is the inhabitants can enjoy more varied garden views, not only the backyard views.
