Futurist Architecture

The facade of Villa Nyckelpiga is clad in larch paneling with graphite-colored metalwork. The foundation is made from concrete that surrounded by a painted expanded clay aggregate wall. Wood is used together with the steel beams to design the frame. And the roof is designed with profiled metal sheets with insulation boards.

Villa J has a load-bearing structure that constructed of steel and wood with an intermediary floor slab that made from concrete. The building facades are also clad with black aluminum, stained pine, light grey render, and Danish brick. The house doors are custom-made by Snickerbolaget while the windows are manufactured by Schüco.

Sommarhus Sandby has a unique character with a dialogue to the traditionally constructed rural houses. With its roof and the wood-clad facades, the materials to build this house are closely related to some barns of the past than the conventional Scanian farmhouses. The design has a lot of details, explaining the modern and contemporary in it.

Andrum is built by using some chosen materials like glass, wood, stone, and concrete. Those materials are kept in their form to create a natural touch to the building structure and interior look. By combining those materials, the architect can form a whole that brings a low-key and beautiful style to the building. The architect also works together with some best engineers for this building structure.

The fabric of the building is upgrading fully including the green roofs, replacement triple glazed windows, Air Source Heat pump, external insulation, Solar Hot Array, MVHR unit, and solar tiles. By challenging the traditional layout of the house, the architect also uses the staircase to cut the building into some functional areas.

The architect has a new concept to breathe the new life into the whole floors of this house. At the same time, the heritage of this listed building is also respected and some of the historic details are restored. It also becomes a challenge for the architect to choose the best material to meet their concept and facing the design challenge.

Some of the detailed joinery pieces are designed to integrate the house operation such as a pop-up television within the master bedroom suite, touchscreen drawers, and slide-out reading lamps. The rooms are also designed from some floating planes within the glass shell and concrete, maximizing the northern exposure and the views of harbor and city of Sydney.

For the interior, the architect uses some materials that influenced by the building heritage and industrial location. There is a glass window that wraps up from the ground level of the house over the rear extension, creating a bridge into the outrigger. At the back of the building, a rhythm can be created by using perforated metal cladding on the rear facade.

To reflect the property siding, the interior walls are clad by the same system of clips and boards. The boards are very easy to be replaced and removed, giving access to the continuous chases that consist of data cabling, phone, power distribution, and HVAC ductwork. The HVAC and electrical can be moved, data cables are upgraded, and wireless transmitters are hidden.
