This house has a vertical backbone: a staircase that leads up to the roof terrace, offering awesome views of the city. The house bearing structure is made of ceramic blocks while the ceilings are reinforced concrete. The spruce glued profiles are used to design the windows. The house interior is fully equipped with the same material as the floors: built-in furniture in oak.

The house space is filled up with natural light throughout the day and it is enhanced by a diamond plaster finish on the interior ceilings and walls, parallels with the minimalism idea through the materials that used.

The interior space of Over the Edge comes as basic in fixtures and finishings, allowing the furnishings and activities that will change and evolve through time to become an ever-changing curation of one’s choices and habits. The white surface from the ceiling and wall can create a natural appearance and soft atmosphere to the entire interior space.

Lattice parametric shells are created to provide the needed heat in winter but the sunlight in summer can’t get in the room of the building. The city’s visual pollution filter also becomes target-controlled by brick panels while the viewer experience a dynamic view is created by the framing of the view from the inside out, and fluidity of the parametrically expanded patterns and frame.

This house has two main structures and it is also designed with lifted elements. These elements can create an illusion as if the house is floating in the middle of the forest around the site and also create a covered outside space. This covered outside space can be used as an additional place for relaxing and entertaining.

With the concept of “sustainable luxury” and a positive aspect, the architect can arrange for rooms to deliver a special luxury feeling. On the exterior, the natural cedar siding is stained in the warm gray of the native shadows and plants. It blends and also recedes into the landscape around the house, adding a more calm feeling to this desert retreat. From the outside, this comfortable retreat looks bold and strong with its dark color but it is calm and warm with its soft interior.

Basecamp is designed with thoughtful, simple forms. These forms clad in regional materials to deliver a unique look. The strategically placed windows from floor to ceiling can create light-filled and airy interiors, and also give the being outdoor feeling while inside. There are also shared outdoor facilities such as hammocks, a dining area, and a campfire, seating to provide the residents with some best spaces to enjoy the local scenery.

The house form is supported on the concrete shear walls and slender steel columns, touching the site delicately and allowing the slope to flow. A deep overhang adjusted can be found on the south side, welcoming the sun in winter and shading the interior in summer. It is a strategy that works with an airtight envelope, photovoltaic panels, and geothermal heating to approach the net-zero energy use.
