Futurist Architecture

The bold architectural statement is created using materials and forms, derived from the region’s heritage and tradition. These forms and materials can create a unique architecture with a different character from other cultural center buildings based, facilitating the indigenous community with the best place to meet and communicate with each other in a comfortable way.

This project salvages the existing brick as much as possible and also replaces the existing storefront windows with new energy-efficient glazing, frames with steel mullions to match the pattern of the original window. This project also backs to its former life brought by the use of mid-century materials such as cork flooring, stained wood paneling, and vintage brick. The details through those materials also make it possible to update the original low ceiling and raising it to achieve eight-foot ceiling heights with a seamless transition both inside and out.

This modern and multifunctional hall have wardrobes, strength training rooms, and also two gymnasiums. With its large size and those facilities, this hall can accommodate more people. The wardrobes can be used by the students to put their bags and belonging, while the training rooms offer complete equipment for training.

The side buildings on the west and east sides are lower than the hall with flat ceilings. The multi-use hall is stepped down to the west and east, and also to a new school square to the west and existing detached houses. Designed as functional as possible, Brandengen primary school can use this hall to support their school activities every day in a comfortable way.

The good indoor and outdoor spaces are created by the clear architectural grip. The hybrid ventilation systems are combined with healthy building materials to provide a good indoor environment. This new school building contains the main entrance for the entire school, canteen, SFO, and also administration section.

The location of the new building can provide good connections to the existing school buildings on two floors with an internal communication path. There is also a new main entrance which is planned in the meeting between existing and new buildings with the input from both sides. The outdoor play area is covered by a resilient, formed by a newly built collar.

A floating platform can be created by expanding the campus platform, forming a clear and logical separation between retail and school functions, public and semi-public (outdoor) spaces. This platform also serves as a catalyst for the site that defines the pedestrian flows on the campus. On the first floor, a square is created and it can be used as a terrace for the polyvalent space and other activities.

The natural daylighting that comes into the building is maximized in the occupied spaces. The artificial lighting is controlled with master control programming, dual-level switching, and occupant sensors.

The mood and visual accents in these hotel buildings are made with linear elements that support the rhythm of the pines outside and the contrast black color. Emotional details are also added such as the decorative branch cuttings with wooden bird figurines and birdhouses, a beautiful symbol of the Relax Park Verholy.
