Built and designed by KIENTRUC O for Chuon Chuon Kim Edu, Chuon Chuon Kim 2 Kindergarten provides a modern educational environment to captivate and also stimulate meaningful cross interactions amongst the adult and children. This kindergarten is located in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with 409m2 of the plot area. Completed in 2017, the building is constructed entirely in bare brick forming patterns and openings like a giant Lego building.

Overview

An openness with a spark of curiosity is instilled within this kindergarten, allowing people to explore and venture the space in a calming and relaxing atmosphere. These experiences are important as the responsibility of nurturing the kids, invoking a sense of pride and interests within the staff and teacher. This project also can embrace and inspires them to dedicate their lives to the children’s dedication on a daily basis.

Design

Just like a giant Lego building, this kindergarten comes with bare brick forming patterns and openings which is playful to see, promoting natural ventilation and showing a unique aesthetic value. The utilities rooms and classrooms are organized around a comfortable core while each floor is designed in an alternating pattern. This pattern can stimulate the children’s inner creativity, encourage children to be more receptive to their surroundings, and enhance vertical interaction.

Interiors

Together with the calming atmosphere of the classrooms, the core is full of movements. The spaces form an aperture from the garden on the ground floor, framing a visible continuous perspective from outside in and inside out. An open rooftop garden is connected to the interior spaces with awesome views of the Saigon River, waiting to be discovered with a rewarding experience.

Details

Because of the continuous changes, the discovery journey in this kindergarten is a very liberating one. The endless experiences are tailored and inserted personally to each space. The combination of the architecture, elements, interior design, materials, and concepts make this kindergarten as a place of surprises for all ages, both children and adult.
