Fort Worth Museum is a modern art museum located in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. The whole building is designed by SWA with “Building in Nature” character. This character means the connection of the landscape treatment with the museum building. With 11 acres in size, SWA succeeds to bring an awesome building design as a modern art museum.
Location
Fort Worth Museum is located across the street from a famous art museum called Kimbell Art Museum. This museum is designed by the best architect, Louis Kahn. With those two great museums, the site area becomes interesting to be visited.
Concept
The main landscape concept of Fort Worth Museum is based on the Japanese architect vision, Tadao Ando. He is chosen because of his winning entry design in the international invitational competition. This concept is also chosen because of the site’s proximity to the art district area.
Landscape
The landscape of this museum has a formal style with a relation treatment to its building. Some areas are used for parking arrangement. The street edges and also the informal central Texas native landscape is used on the building North and East side.
Character
“Building in Nature” is the main character for the Fort Worth Museum. The landscape is used to respond this Ando’s character for the whole project. A good balance of a building and its nature can be found easily on this museum.
Modern Art
SWA also consider this museum purpose in art. Fort Worth Museum is a place for modern arts for art lover these days. It also becomes a reason for the architect to make a modern interior and exterior to the museum architecture.
