Little Catch: Take a Tour to One of The Fishmongers in Shanghai

LineHouse was appointed to finish a fishmonger called Little Catch. Little Catch is located in one of the busiest streets in Shanghai, China, where you can find many local food stalls, shops, small restaurants, and other sidewalk activities. The firm has completed the project in January 2015. The shop itself is a fishmonger providing fresh and cooked seafood.

Little Catch

Clear glass windows and mesh panels function as the exterior façade of Little Catch with the main focus is an extending stainless steel vitrine. The vitrine is used to display the fresh seafood served in the store.

Still in the exterior, you can see a sign featuring a blue fish printed on canvas adorned with a neon sign atop. Here the architectural firm incorporated a three dimensional ceiling net as a canopy that reaches into the street and engulfs the customers upon entering the shop.

Additional Shelving

The ceiling net is made out of a white powder coated metal structure combined with meshes of different transparencies and densities. It is exposed to create extra shelving for the products in the shop.

The Shop Display

Little Catch uses the metal structures bent and folded on the walls to display fresh seafood.

The metal structures are also utilized in the cashier, table seating for two, and products shelving.

Concrete and Glossy Finish

When it comes to the shop’s flooring, it went with rough concrete coupled with white tile-covered walls in a glossy finish.

The firm divided the wall section into three parts in varying sizes to create wall shelving and menu boards. The menu boards were incorporated into the wall finish by using clear acrylic words aluminum strips.

Above each wall shelving, you can also see wooden oak shelve acted as product display while below are the fresh seafood display from custom made stainless steel trays.
