This building serves as a pilot project of shared office developments to encourage local startup companies in the area.

The Facade

Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects proposed to overclad and combine the existing rendered concrete façade by using a corrugated and perforated polyester powder covered with aluminum skin. Caohejing Innovation Incubator An Innovation Incubator For Hi Tech Startup Companies In Shanghai 6

This structure exudes a clean and simple expression of openings inside and behind the perforated aluminum. The aluminum itself acts as a shading for every workspace without affecting the daylight exposure and view outside.

Meanwhile, the façade also increases the insulation build-ups and integrates the existing services with the new ones. Even so, these facilities remain hidden from everyday view.

The New Atrium

Another key design presented by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects is opening the existing deep plan of the building to create a new atrium in the middle.
