OSOME Studio recently shared their awesome project of a bright apartment with natural textures in Moscow. In designing this apartment for a family of four, the studio team prioritized a serene visual concept combined with optimal functionality.

“The apartment owners, a young couple with two children, wanted a serene, concise, and cozy space with soft forms and natural textures,” said the designers. “The meticulously planned space is as functional as possible, providing everything needed for relaxation, work, and family leisure.”

The 125-square-meter apartment initially had a well-planned layout, featuring an elongated design and a corner location with abundant windows on two sides, ensuring plenty of natural light. Despite this, the designers decided to make some changes. They restructured the apartment’s layout, expanding the kitchen-living area and increasing the size of the master bathroom by utilizing space from the corridor.

The generously sized kitchen-living area became the home’s central gathering spot, ideal for family time and hosting guests. The design remains visually streamlined, consistent with the rest of the apartment, with the Freelight lamp from Centersvet standing out as a key highlight. The focal point of the kitchen is positioned above the island, which naturally draws attention. Much of the furniture, including the island, was custom-made, featuring a metal frame, a countertop finished in large-format Travertino Navona Bocciardato porcelain stoneware from Laminam, and a veneered base.

The island incorporates a dining table, paired with Vienna chairs from the Danish brand BoConcept, creating a cozy dining area. Columns housing built-in appliances are neatly arranged along the wall. To visually connect the kitchen and living spaces, the same travertine-textured porcelain stoneware is used in both areas, adding a touch of texture to the minimalist interior. “The soft lines of the modular sofa by Boca complete the living room’s composition,” the project authors commented.

The remainder of the apartment is dedicated to private spaces. The master suite comprises a sleeping area, a workspace, and a walk-in closet connected to the en-suite bathroom. The designers incorporated a composition of rhythmic plaster and veneered panels behind the soft headboard of the double bed, divided by a horizontal brass strip. The bathroom mirrors the master suite’s palette with a refined mix of light homogeneous porcelain stoneware, gray stone, and veneered fronts. The children’s rooms are thoughtfully designed for optimal space usage, featuring cozy sleeping areas, play and social zones, a sports corner, and workspaces. The high ceilings allowed for extensive storage solutions.

The clients desired a stylistically simple apartment, avoiding bold decorative elements and opting for a subdued color palette. However, their focus was on high-quality materials and textures that offer a pleasing tactile experience. This led to a design incorporating rich veneers, ribbed surfaces, natural stone textures, soft carpets, and luxurious upholstery fabrics.

“We aimed to create a space that is as comfortable as possible for our clients, with an atmosphere of calm and tranquility, where storage is carefully planned, and every item has its place,” the project authors concluded.
