Believe it or not, your attic is actually a really versatile space that can be transformed to fit your every need. With just a little imagination and a bit of hard work, it can become anything you want it to be.

Check out these 5 ideas that will inspire you to do some DIY redecorating.

Children’s room

If your attic has low ceilings, turning it into a children’s room is the best possible option. Converting an unfinished attic into a beautiful bedroom may seem like an extremely difficult task, but with the right planning, this transformation can be done with minimal costs and stress.

First of all, you need to make sure that your attic is perfectly safe from all the dangerous substances and minerals such as asbestos. If you are from Australia, there are great companies for asbestos removal in Sydney you can contact. When that part is done, the fun begins. Make the most out of your space with short closets that will line the bedroom nicely. Next, cover your hardwood floor with a nice, big carpet to soundproof the space and make it a little bit warmer. Finally, line the lower slope with a few beds and keep the space in the center open so that your kids can play freely.

Quiet room

We all need a getaway where we can enjoy some peace and quiet without electronics interrupting us every now and then. And there is no better place for it than an attic. If your attic is bright and has good windows, paint it all-white and equip it with comfy sofas, chairs and maybe even a giant hammock. Finally, lay out some magazines, books, musical instruments and potted plants around to create a pleasant atmosphere.

Walk-in closet

This is a perfect solution for all fellow shopping-freaks whose regular closets are overflowing with clothing pieces and footwear. Not only that you have nothing to wear, but you also have no closet space to put all that nothing in, right? Oh, the struggle. If you find this all too familiar, it is time to roll up your sleeves and turn your unused attic into a huge and fabulous walk-in closet you always dreamed of. Not to mention that turning an attic into a closet requires a lot less work than building a regular walk-in closet. You will only have to cover your walls with OSB, install some “appearance” lighting and a few shelves, and you’re done. The harder part though is moving all those clothes up there.

P.S. If you want to make it seem luxurious, add some furniture and maybe a manikin, mirror, rug and a chandelier in it.

Playroom

Adults love to play as well, right? Whether you are into pool, ping pong or any other table sport, you can do it in your own home. If your attic is large enough, you can have both a game space and a lounge area. You can either divide it in half, or put a pool or a ping pong table in the center and leave the space for seating around it.

Home theater

If you don’t have enough space in your living room to fit your entire family on movie nights, your attic can be a great solution. Add a few built-in storage units on the side walls where you can store CDs, video game consoles and video games, and add a big and comfy sofa or sectional in the center as well as a big screen TV. Finally, complete the space with a tiny fridge to store drinks in and maybe even a popcorn maker to enhance the movie experience.
